Are you someone facing divorce who has spent a lifetime creating and building wealth and are concerned with how this could be unwound efficiently, including taxes?  Are you worried that there is not enough liquidity or offsetting assets for you to keep the business you built, the company shares and options you’ve earned, or your favorite real estate investments?  If you and your spouse want to avoid financial mistakes that could devastate your legacy, don’t worry, we provide the clarity, confidence, and guidance you need.

Life satisfaction is at the heart of our work in divorce financial planning.  We strive to deliver creative solutions and strategies to optimize your financial situation with patience and support, which is particularly important when one spouse has less financial understanding than the other.  This helps you to arrive at a settlement that is fully understood by all with a clear view of your financial future. Beyond providing divorce financial education and strategy, we also provide financial forensics and business valuation.

Mr. Cicinelli has worked with some of the most successful people and businesses around the world.  He brings over two decades of financial and analytical experience to work for clients and teaches a course on Alternative Investing Strategies (real estate, private equity, etc.) for UCLA Extension.  Previously, he was a Managing Director with one of Europe’s most successful families at their Eagle Advisors family office.  Mr. Cicinelli drove asset allocation decisions across the firm, utilizing outside managers through an “endowment style” investment model.  Additionally, he launched and managed the firm’s direct stock-picking strategies. Prior to joining the European family office, he was employed with Reed Conner & Birdwell Investment Management as an equity and bond analyst, and portfolio manager for high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients. Mr. Cicinelli held similar positions with Prudential Securities and Credit Suisse First Boston, within the investment banks’ equity research departments.  He grew up as a fourth-generation member of his family’s business in Michigan and later helped facilitate the sale of the business.  Mr. Cicinelli graduated from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business with a BBA and an emphasis in finance and accounting.  His interests include surfing, fly-fishing, and spending time with his children.  Confluence donates 1% of all divorce financial planning revenue to the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law, where Brett is a volunteer.
